While the anime TV series was still airing in Japan, Toei began producing theatrical films based on the series. With their success, Shueisha began releasing film animation comics of these theatrical films. The comics contained screen shots of the film presented in a comic format, making it easy to enjoy your favorite movie while on the go. However, Shueisha decided to skip over the first seven films that had already premiered and began with the most recent premiere (DragonBall Z Movie 5) in 1992. They also released animation comics for all three TV specials, as well as the 10th anniversary movie. After catching up to all of the current movie premieres, Shueisha returned and gradually released all of the DragonBall movies and the first four DragonBall Z movies, which they had originally skipped. In total, there were 20 film animation comics released.
Although the film animation comics were released out of order, they are organized below by in their original chronological order for simplicity. However, if you would rather view them in their actual order of release, you can do so by switching between categories.
